Argentina and
ALADI sign a cooperation agreement.
|
The Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs
and the Latin American Association for the Integration (ALADI) signed
a cooperation agreement with the purpose to create a framework of technical
and institutional work in order to contribute to the reciprocal cooperation
and assistance for the benefit of the integration of the boroughs in
the rest of America.
|
ALADI is an intergovernmental entity which
promotes the expansion of the integration of the region so as to ensure
its economic and social development. Its final goal is to establish
a common market. The entity consists of 12 countries (Argentina, Brazil,
Bolivia, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela,
Uruguay and Cuba).
|
The agreement was signed on September 18
during the IX Summit of Mercocities held in Montevideo, Uruguay and
will promote the development of the programme called “National
Initiative for the Promotion of the Argentine Local Governments in the
World”, which the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs has started
through the Under-Secretariat for Institutional Relationships.
|
Said programme will encourage the interaction among boroughs, provinces, the federal government and private organizations in Argentina as well as consolidate the process of reinsertion of the country in the world in an arranged and multilateral way. Moreover, it will contribute to the exchange of institutional and technical-commercial information with the boroughs in the rest of America, its diplomats explained in Montevideo.
|
In the Summit of Mercocities, Argentina presented
the website “Promocionar.ORG”, whose aim will be to promote
the institutional presence in the foreign policy of the 2154 boroughs
and local offices in the whole country.
|
These boroughs will have access to all the
information available, including the one which may contribute to the
international philanthropic help. Furthermore, it will be a useful tool
of free access which will accompany and strengthen the local initiatives
for the bilateral integration with participation in the discussion of
the issues concerning foreign policy, the people in charge pointed out.
